La Laguna, Fuente de Piedra

La Laguna, 2010
I've finally found a place near our new town where I can get film processed.  Woo.  Hoo.  I now have plenty of new shots to scan (at least for the next week or so).

This one was shot at the laguna near Fuente de Piedra.  Shot on film on a Zero 2000 pinhole camera. The laguna is a large nature preserve/ bird sanctuary which is famous as a nesting sight for flamingos.  I'm hoping to eventually be able to get some pinhole shots of the flamingos.

Cat Peers from a Window

Fuzzy Cat, 2010
Here's another one from last spring.  It's out of focus. but I like the added fuzziness of the cat.  Shot on film, using a blackbird, fly plastic camera.

Fig Branches

Figs, 2010
About four months ago, I set aside some recently processed negatives that needed to flatten for a while.  Yesterday, I remembered I still had not scanned them.   Hooray for new (old) photos!  Here's one from last summer, shot on a blackbird, fly plastic camera.

Hiking with Nessie
A (short) trip back in the time machine to the days when Nessie was only a small pup. Shot on film using a Canonet QL17 rangefinder camera.

Cat in a Window

Cat in a Window 1, 2011

Cat in a Window 2, 2011

It is nearly impossible to get even the laziest cat to sit still in a warm and cozy window for a long exposure photo. Here are my latest attempts.  30 and 45 second exposures, shot on expired Polaroid 664 film using a Pinhole 100 camera. If you squint, you can see my cat.

Greenpoint Warehouse

Greenpoint Warehouse, 2006
This one is from a few years ago.  It was shot handheld on a Zero 2000 medium format pinhole camera.  I'm not sure is this building is still there, but I highly doubt it.  It was almost directly across the street from the Greenpoint Terminal Market, sight of the huge fire of suspicious origins in 2006.

Pinhole 100

I've just received my brand new Pinhole 100 camera in the mail!  Made by A Power in Japan, it uses instant Fuji or Polaroid Type 100 film.  Here is the company website (mostly in Japanese):

Here are my first two exposures shot on the camera.  Both exposures were around 30 to 40 seconds, shot on expired Polaroid 664 film.

Getting choked by fumes at a biodiesel plant.  The wind changed direction just as I was focusing the camera.  Here is the second shot for the Guardian Camera Club utilities theme.

Abandoned House

Here are a few shots of one of the many abandoned farmhouses in my area.  I was losing light, and most of today's shots were crap, but these are vaguely presentable.  I'm hoping to go back with a pinhole camera before this house collapses.

Lemoniz Pinhole

Here's another pinhole image of the never completed Lemoniz nuclear power plant, located outside of Bilbao and now home to thousands of seagulls. This one is in color, shot on film using a Zero 2000 medium format pinhole camera.

Pinhole Dogs

We moved recently.  As much as I hate to admit it, our new location is probably worse for photo supplies and film processing than our old location.  I have a pile of 120 and 35 mm film and no place nearby to process it, and no place to buy chemistry to do it myself.  This is making me very grumpy.  At least I still have plenty of unscanned negatives to dig through.

Today's photo, starring my darling pup, was shot at some point this spring or summer... probably in May or June.

Panels

Panels, 2011
I'm thinking about subjects for this month's Guardian Camera Club assignment.  The topic is utilities (gas, power, water, etc...).  I have a few things in mind.  I shot this from the car window today, and I'm hoping to go back later this week for closer look and a better camera angle.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from me and my beautiful pup.  I have a serious case of the rainy winter blahs.  Wishing for some snow or looking forward to some spring flowers.
Nessie, 2010

Today, I'm cooking sopa de ajo (Spanish garlic soup).  It is the simplest soup to make in the universe, and delicious.  Here's a link to a recipe similar to mine:
http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2010/05/sopa-de-ajo-garlic-soup-recipe.html
A few differences:  I use water instead of stock.  Also, I cook the eggs in the soup rather than poaching them on the side.  Enjoy.
