Carrera de Cintas a Caballo, Fuente de Piedra

Drinks on a Horse, 2011

White Horses, 2011
It took a while to get around to scanning these negatives.  These were shot at the Carrera de Cintas a Caballo in Fuente de Piedra, Malaga, in 2011.  The purpose of the race is to capture a ring that has been suspended in the air on a small wooden stick, all while riding full speed on a horse.  In Fuente, some of the riders were also intoxicated.  And they ride on pavement.  Without a helmet.  I recall shooting more film that day, so there are possibly more shots to be posted at a later date.

All were shot with a Rolleicord medium format TLR, using Ilford Delta 100 film.  Thanks for visiting.  Please feel free to leave comments, questions or horse stories in the space provided.

Oxcart

Oxcart, 2011
Here is my entry for the Old School Photo Lab's (oldschoolphotolab.com) Old School Photo Contest.  Contest details can be found here.

Why an oxcart?  Because before the horseless carriage there was the horse, before the pickup truck there was the oxcart.  What could be more old school than that?

La Romería de Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes Part 3

I finally got around to scanning some of my color negatives from La Romería de Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes.  Some of the black and white photos, as well as background information about the festival,  can be seen here and here.  All were shot on Kodak Ektar 100 speed film with a Rolleicord Va TLR camera.

Strange Landscape Through the Rolleicord

I've been a bit of a slacker about blog updates of late.  As a result, this is my second post of the day!  Maybe I'll catch up with the growing stack of negatives in need of scanning, which might result in even more blog posts.

The shots below were all shot in a strange plot of land near what we like to refer to as the Cylon Field.  The actual Cylon Field is a rather large solar farm located outside of Mollina (a few shots of it can be found here).   The solar facility is neighbored by a large, uncultivated plot of land (quite unusual for the area, as most non hilly areas are covered by olive groves or other crops).  This spot is full of rabbits, interesting native plants and odd tidbits of garbage (see here).  I've taken the pinhole to this spot numerous times, but this was the first time I've brought the Rolleicord.  All were shot on Kodak Ektar 100 speed 120 film.

La Romería de Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes

La Romería de Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes occurs in Fuente de Piedra on the second Sunday in May.  It starts on Saturday, when an icon of the virgin is taken from the church, placed on an oxcart, and walked past the Laguna to a spot in the countryside.  In this case, the countryside spot is a picnic sight near a campground/ caravan park.  The following day is spent at the picnic spot, and in the evening the icon is walked back to the church.  I shot quite a few photos of the camino to the campground (on color and black and white).  The color shots won't be ready for a while, but here is a selection of some of the black and white.  All were shot with a Rolleicord Va on TMax 400 film.

My Rolleicord Still Works!

Many years ago, I dropped my Rolleicord on a studio floor.  The lenses and viewfinder survived the fall, but the back no longer closes properly.  Not long after that happened, I packed the camera away and moved to a different apartment, always meaning to get the thing fixed.  Fast forward ten years (ten years!?!), and I've finally dusted off the Rollei and taken it for a walk in the woods.  I have to keep the back taped shut but otherwise it still works fine.  Hooray!  Here are a few shots from the first roll shot on my bent but not broken Rollei.
